OUR PROCESS

Your initial visit to our dental practice is a chance for us to establish a connection with you. Creating a comfortable and relaxed environment is paramount to us, and it all begins with building trust right from the outset. During your first appointment, we allocate extra time to acquaint ourselves with you. We’ll discuss your dental history, reasons for your visit, and what you hope to achieve for your dental health and smile.

Our comprehensive approach involves conducting all necessary x-rays and photographs to facilitate a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and jaw. Additionally, we conduct a meticulous oral cancer screening, covering areas such as the tongue, cheeks, throat, TMJ, and neck—a routine we maintain during subsequent visits. Following the examination, our dentists will review the results with you, recommending any treatments deemed necessary. We encourage you to ask questions, ensuring you’re fully informed and engaged in decisions regarding your dental health. This collaborative process empowers you to make educated choices regarding your treatment options.

Together, we formulate a tailored treatment plan that suits your specific needs. This teamwork is pivotal in ensuring a positive dental journey within a serene and welcoming atmosphere.

Following your examination, our amiable and compassionate hygienist will expertly cleanse your teeth, ensuring you depart with a radiant and revitalized smile. Additionally, as a token of appreciation from Dr. Mark and Dr. Meg Ferdos, all our new patients are entitled to a complimentary fluoride varnish treatment. We firmly advocate for the importance of fluoride therapy in thwarting tooth decay, hence, it is routinely recommended for all patients during every recall visit.

Valuable details to prepare for your initial appointment:

1. X-Rays (if necessary): You have the option to either bring them along or request your former dental clinic to forward them to us ahead of your appointment date.

2. Inventory of current prescription medications you’re taking.

3. Catalog of any diagnosed medical conditions you have.

4. Completed patient registration forms: Completing these in advance will streamline your appointment process.

5. Insurance card and relevant information.
Kindly be advised: Patients below 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during their initial consultation appointment.

Regular dental visits are essential for maintaining optimal oral health and preventing potential dental problems. By scheduling routine appointments with your dentist, you can ensure early detection and treatment of issues such as cavities, gum disease, and oral infections, which, if left untreated, can lead to more significant problems and discomfort. Moreover, regular dental check-ups enable your dentist to conduct thorough examinations, including professional cleanings, to remove plaque and tartar buildup, helping to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Additionally, routine visits provide an opportunity for your dentist to assess your oral hygiene practices, offer personalized advice for improvement, and discuss any concerns you may have regarding your dental health. Ultimately, prioritizing regular dental appointments not only helps to preserve the health and integrity of your teeth and gums but also contributes to your overall well-being and confidence in your smile.

Preventing cavities begins with adopting a proactive approach to oral hygiene. Start by brushing your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, focusing on all surfaces and ensuring thorough coverage. Additionally, incorporate daily flossing into your routine to remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth and along the gumline, where cavities often form. A balanced diet low in sugary and acidic foods can also help prevent cavities, as these substances can contribute to enamel erosion and decay. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day can help rinse away food debris and maintain saliva production, which plays a crucial role in neutralizing acids and protecting tooth enamel. Furthermore, consider using fluoride mouthwash as an additional measure to strengthen tooth enamel and inhibit cavity formation. Finally, regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings are essential for early detection of cavities and intervention to prevent further decay. By implementing these preventive measures and maintaining consistent dental care, you can significantly reduce your risk of developing cavities and preserve the health of your teeth for years to come.
